How it works
You rent a block of hours (usually 5 to 6 plus setup). Many halls include tables, chairs, linens and a bar; some require their in-house caterer or charge a fee for outside food. Power, restrooms and AC are on site.

Most hosts book 5 to 6 hours.
How much to plan
Seated dinner with a dance floor needs about 12 to 15 sq ft per guest; ask the hall for its banquet capacity, not its standing capacity.

Houston notes

  • East End, Pasadena, North Houston and Southwest Houston have dense clusters of family-run salones that sell quince and wedding packages. Ask about the end time: many halls stop music at midnight or 1 AM and charge per extra hour.
  • Venues and parks often ask the vendor for a certificate of insurance. Ask for it early.
